Well, we played our hearts out tonight at Lassiter High School for the Orlando Benefit Concert #1. I can't thank Richard Prior, Jonathan Wright, Kimberly Lemmick Snyder, Sasha Shatalova, and Peter Gustav Westin II enough for their roles in front of and behind the scenes. My fellow colleagues in the orchestra were spectacular. I will admit that I was emotional after the low brass chorale in the fourth movement of Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 6." During the last movement of Hanson's "Symphony No. 2," my thoughts and prayers were for the city of Orlando, the lives lost in Istanbul, the "Charleston Nine," and my cousin's wife. The power of music truly soothes the soul.
